Ofsted

The Annual Report of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector, Christine Gilbert has been released. It covers the period April 2007 to August 2008 and can be found in various forms by clicking on the following link: Ofsted Annual Report

On a slightly lighter note, the Ofsted site has just produced a list of providers judged to be outstanding following inspections in 2007/08. So congratulations to all those settings who have achieved ‘outstanding’ status and if you are not one of these, why not have a quick look at your area to see who is.

CWDC

The Childrens Workforce Development Council has recently produced a new list of qualifications which by Sept 2009 all settings delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage must adhere to. The Early Years and Playwork Database of Qualifications is already available on the CWDC website in order to give employers and settings as much time as possible to become familiar with the list. Free Nursery Places to be scrapped

The plan to offer free nursery places for all two-year-olds has been scrapped by the Government, just two months after it was announced as part of a £1billion package to expand childcare. Instead, the Government has reverted to its original plan to make the offer only in the most deprived areas. Read more of this Nursery World article by Catherine Gaunt here
